TIPS ON KEEPING YOUR BOAT CLEAN • After each use, rinse it with fresh water. • Flush the engine after each use to protect it from salt corrosion. • Before storing the boat after use make sure to clean it thoroughly with Dawn and a soft bristle brush. Keeping a CLEAN BOAT is key to prolonging the life of the vessel. By washing it Keeping the deck clean when not in use will protect it from ROT. The LIFE of the boat is the deck. When the deck becomes weak it is no longer safe. A weak deck is a sign of deterioration of wood or composite material used to make it. Water seeping through holes around screws is the number one reason a deck rots. Make sure when a installing anything on the deck to apply 100% silicone to seal the holes. Most decks will last fifteen years with normal wear and tear on them before having to be replaced. Some decks are abused and do not last as long, so therefore keeping a CLEAN BOAT will prolong its life. Not only do the decks need to be cleaned but the seats do as well. To clean the upholstery, you can use a mixture of Alumibrite and water to gently wash it down (apply it with gloves on) because it is an acid. After wiping it down with the mixture rinse it off immediately, then apply WD40 to protect it. Not only will WD40 protect it, but it will also clean grease, oil, or tar from it. Looking good while using your boat make you feel good, and by keeping it clean you will look good on the water.
